The choices offered can be a bit overwhelming so for those who are in need of recommendations, so here are a few samples of what you can expect for the next twelve months. The games listed below are appropriate for gamers of all ages, so there shouldn’t be a problem for those looking to buy them for their children.
WWE Immortals (iOS) – January 15, 2015
As a free to play game, there are probably a few apprehensions regarding the quality of NetherRealm Studios’ latest game. However, considering that the studio has also been responsible for the release of such success stories as Mortal Kombat and Injustice: Gods Among Us, those fears are easily misplaced. WWE Immortals proves to be a very good game that falls short on being great, but is enjoyable enough for fans and non-fans of WWE alike. Besides, who wouldn’t want to play a fighting game that literally portrays John Cena as a comic book superhero?
SpongeBob HeroPants (Various consoles) – February 3, 2015
Games based on hit Nickelodeon shows have always been geared towards the youngest demographics and SpongeBob HeroPants is no different. Set after the events of the upcoming movie, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, the game will allow players to control several popular characters to battle enemies, solve problems and explore brand new areas. There are also console exclusive features, such as the drop in/drop out co-op play for players on the Xbox 360.
Mario Party 10 (Wii U) – March 20, 2015
The latest entry in the beloved Mario Party series, Mario Party 10 continues the rich tradition of four players competing against each other in several mini-games. If you loved the previous thirteen entries of Mario Party then you’re sure to love this one too. If you happen to be a newcomer to the series, then there is no better way to get started with the franchise.
Batman: Arkham Knight (Various consoles) – June 2, 2015
Everybody knows what a success the Arkham series has been so far. Is it really surprising that a fourth and perhaps final Batman game is set to be released in June of 2015? My guess is, not in the slightest. Set after the events of Batman: Arkham City, Arkham Knight offers a much bigger world than the previous games have been able to provide, although considering the next gen consoles that it will be exclusively running in, that’s a totally believable concept. Batman fans will sure to rejoice once June rolls by and they can begin hunting down the infamous rogue gallery once more.
Star Wars: Battlefront (Various consoles) – TBD 2015
Although the exact release date remains unannounced, it is certain that before 2015 is done the world will see the release of the latest entry into the Star Wars Battlefront franchise. This game is scheduled to be released for next gen consoles, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows.
The gaming industry, judging by the 2015 selection, looks to be going as strong as ever. If you thought the 2015 lineup is looking good, then we can only expect better things on the horizon as the gaming industry continues to develop further and further into uncharted territories and deliver what we all can call quality games.
