With Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy ready to bring a fresh group of fictional characters for kids to go crazy over, the summer movie season is almost coming to a fantastic close. But if you think that there won’t be any good films for kids to enjoy for the rest of the year: think again! There’s a plethora of cinematic gems in the coming months that’s sure to enthrall kids everywhere. From futuristic teenage superheroes to a musical mashup of fairytale characters, here are some of the exciting movies kids should look out for later in the year.

The Book of Life

This whimsical animated fantasia produced by Guillermo del Toro explores mystical Mexican death traditions and realm of the underworld while featuring incredible visuals as well as top-notch voice talents such as Zoe Saldana, Diego Luna, and Channing Tatum in the lead roles.

Big Hero 6

Since Disney’s acquisition of Marvel Studios, the behemoth media company has made its first foray into the superhero genre with an animated film that puts together an oddball mix of teenagers trying to defeat an evil force threatening to take over the quirky metropolis of San Fransokyo.

Annie

The classic musical featuring the sassy redheaded orphan has been reworked into a modern version with plenty of cool changes. Academy Award-nominated actress Quvenzhané Wallis stars in the titular role and is backed by an ensemble cast that includes Jamie Foxx, Rose Byrne, and Cameron Diaz.

Into the Woods

Imagine if TV shows like Glee and Once Upon a Time came together, they would probably produce something like this incredible movie that takes several familiar fairytale characters like Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood and puts an inventive musical spin on their interwoven storylines.

Paddington

The iconic talking bear with the red hat and blue coat is finally getting the big screen treatment. Based on the popular children’s book series by British author Michael Bond, this movie is sure to deliver the hilarious shenanigans that Paddington Bear is known for in the original source material.
